Community to pay tribute to the legacy of Elie Wiesel in a special gathering

On the one year anniversary since his passing, The ADC and the Jewish Holocaust Museum are staging a unique evening of reading, music and film, to honour and pay tribute to the singular legacy of Nobel Peace Prize winner and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel. The 20th June gathering will feature a reading of Night in Yiddish and English, a special film commemorating Wiesel’s life, a keynote speech by Rabbi Kennard and the announcement of the Elie Wiesel Essay competition.

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, and Warren Feinberg, CEO of the Jewish Holocaust Museum, issued the following statement:

“We join to honour the memory and unique legacy of Nobel Prize laureate Elie Wiesel with this first of a kind event. Wiesel was the voice of moral courage, and this special occasion gives our community the opportunity to celebrate the groundbreaking leadership and inspiring dedication of this champion of Holocaust remembrance. This notable and powerful gathering will bring together community leaders, survivors and young people who will pay tribute to Wiesel’s universal message of hope, and who will bring to life his eloquent words from his landmark memoir Night. As two organisations fighting intolerance and teaching about the dangers of indifference, we are proud to continue Elie Wiesel’s timeless mission by taking a stand against hate and prejudice. We hope that this evening will amplify for everyone the importance of heeding Wiesel’s call to fight for justice and to always stand up for the weak and the vulnerable.”
