January 26, 2015

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission has welcomed the United Nations GeneralUn against Global Anti-semitesim Assembly’s special plenary session convened to address the global increase in anti-Semitism, noting that this conference was long overdue. The ADC also thanked Australia and the other 36 member states for supporting this important meeting and called on governments and international agencies to implement concrete action to tackle the scourge of violence and hatred against Jews.

Dr. Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission, issued the following statement:

“I welcome this significant and timely gathering, and commend the effort by Australia and the 36 participating countries in sponsoring this initiative. The tragedy in the Kosher Supermarket in Paris further underlined the urgent need for the UN to convene this session and to focus on the serious and troubling issue of Jewish hatred. It is my hope  that this notable meeting and the stirring speeches delivered by the various speakers are followed by the implementation of meaningful, concrete, and consistent steps by governments and international agencies that effectively stem the tide of increasing anti-Semitism.”
