The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC) has praised British Prime Minister David Cameron for reaffirming his commitment and determination to protect British Jews from escalating anti-Semitism. In a message to mark Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, PM Cameron pledged: “As we enter this time of reflection…I hope that I may be able to offer some reassurance to anyone who needs it about the incredible pride that Britain has in its Jewish communities and our continued determination to fight discrimination and to keep Jewish people safe… Jewish communities must not be left to live in fear. As Prime Minister I will do everything I can to stamp out such hatred now and in the future.”

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“At a time when anti-Semitism is on the rise in Britain and across Europe, Prime Minister Cameron’s clear-eyed, timely and unequivocal stance is very much welcomed and sends a strong message that should be embraced by other nations. It is pleasing that a leader with such a firm conviction and a powerful commitment to cracking down on the evil of Jewish-hatred heads one of the most important countries in the world. The task and challenge ahead is to translate these admirable and passionate words into decisive and substantial action. As we have stated numerous times, the continuing violence against European Jewry is a threat to Europe’s very fabric and core values. As such, all available measures must be used to effectively address this growing menace and to ensure that all Jewish citizens can live safely and peacefully, free from harassment, intimidation and physical attacks.”
