B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission pleased with the U.S Republican Party platform’s rejection of the Boycotts, Divestments and Sanctions movement

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC) has applauded the U.S Republican Party’s draft platform which strongly rejects the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. The platform states that, “the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement (“BDS”) is anti-Semitic in nature and seeks to destroy Israel,” and “calls for, “effective legislation to thwart actions that are intended to limit commercial relations with Israel, or persons or entities doing business in Israel or in Israeli-controlled territories, in a discriminatory manner”.

Dr. Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“We applaud and appreciate the very strong and principled statement contained in the draft Republican Party’s platform which not only rejects the BDS, but rightly identifies its main objectives as anti-Semitic in nature. In the collective struggle to counter and disrupt this global campaign and its reprehensible goal of isolating and maligning Israel, it is crucial that the Republican Party stands firm in denouncing the BDS and its vicious tactics to delegitimize the state of Israel.  The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is multiplex, and deploying a cultural and an economic war against Israel only fuels the embers of hatred and will not foster genuine dialogue, cooperation and reconciliation between the two parties. It is essential that political parties make it clear that the only pathway to a sustainable peace between Israelis and Palestinians is a return to bilateral negotiations, not the increasing defamation of the Jewish state that is employed by the biased BDS activists.”

The Anti-Defamation Commission, founded in 1979, is Australia’s leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through educational programs that combat bigotry, prejudice and all forms of hatred.
