B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission lauds California Governor Jerry Brown for signing into law anti-BDS bill

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC), Australia’s leading civil and human rights organisation fighting anti-Semitism and hatred in all its forms, has praised California Governor Jerry Brown for signing into law a measure that prohibits companies that boycott or discriminate against Israel from doing business with the state. The bill has now been approved the state senate.

Dr. Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“We applaud Governor Brown for signing this important bill which sends the resounding and unmistakable message that the State of California repudiates the pernicious objectives and tactics of the BDS movement. This action also makes it very clear that any company that wishes to discriminate against Jews and Israelis will not be welcomed by the State of California, the largest economy in the United States. This is a meaningful and impactful blow against an extremist, anti-peace movement which seeks to harm and demonise the Jewish state and its supporters. The BDS campaign traffics in bigotry and anti-Semitism, and does not contribute in any productive way to the promotion of peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians. It is the duty of all nations and governments to take a strong stance against the growing defamation of Israel and to do all that is possible to defeat the global menace which is the hypocritical and destructive BDS movement.”

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission, founded in 1979, is Australia’s leading organization fighting racism through educational programs that combat bigotry, prejudice and all forms of hatred.
