The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC), Australia’s leading organisation fighting anti-Semitism and hatred in all its forms, has demanded that Morrys Portland Supply, a company based in Indonesia, immediately remove from its collection shirts and pullovers that feature the Nazi-flag adorned with the swastilka. The company, which has more than 78 thousand followers on Instagram, has posted pictures of the swastika-emblazoned clothes from its Spring/Summer collection, including on popular store JackCloth with the headline, “Bad Seller JackCloth SS Bad to the Bone”
ADC Chairman, Dr Dvir Abramovich, issued the following statement:
“What is Morrys Portland Supply thinking? These sickening clothes represent a new low in the trivialising and cheapening of the Holocaust. These disgusting items are deeply offensive to the six million Jews and millions of other victims murdered by Hitler’s evil regime and will only serve to embolden modern Neo-Nazis and white supremacists and to glorify Nazism. I am outraged that the company is unconscionably proud of this abhorrent merchandise and has boasted of the fact that it is making a profit from its sale. We call on Morrys Portland Supply to immediately remove the clothing from their collection and to apologise to Holocaust survivors, their families and to those veterans who fought valiantly to defeat the Third Reich. It is our hope that Morrys Portland Supply understands why this is so wrong and uses this episode as a learning moment to educate itself, its staff and customers about the Holocaust and the history of anti-Semitism. We also call on all other retailers to withdraw this apparel from their catalogues and websites and to destroy any remaining stock.”
