B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission decries firebombing attack at Perth mosque

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC), Australia’s leading organisation fighting hatred in all its forms, has decried the firebombing outside the Thornlie Mosque and Australian Islamic College in Perth. A car exploded outside the mosque as hundreds gathered for their prayer service.

ADC Chairman, Dr Dvir Abramovich, issued the following statement:

“As a civil and human rights organisation dedicated to ending discrimination and prejudice, we unequivocally condemn this heinous act of hatred and intolerance. An assault on one community because of their religion is an attack on all members of the community.  Such cowardly attacks have a chilling ripple effect and are meant to harass, intimidate, and threaten. Those who targeted this house of worship struck at the very heart of Australian multiculturalism, freedom and democracy. We hope that the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”

The Anti-Defamation Commission, founded in 1979, is Australia’s leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through educational programs that combat bigotry, prejudice and all forms of hatred.
