B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission decries attack on Reform Synagogue in Ra’anana

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC), Australia’s leading organisation fighting anti-Semitism and hatred in all its forms, has condemned the vandalism attack on  the  Kehilat Ra’anan Reform synagogue in Ra’anana. Six of the synagogue’s windows were smashed and a black Star of David was spray-painted on the wall above the words “It has begun”. A knife and envelopes containing death threats against leaders of the movement were also left near the synagogue.

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“We condemn this reprehensible and malicious hate crime in the strongest possible terms. Such extremist conduct and threats of violence have no place in Judaism, run counter to the tenets of our faith, and go against the fundamental values of religious tolerance and acceptance so cherished in Israel. We call on all leaders to decry such disturbing incitement and rhetoric, and trust that Israel’s law enforcement agencies will do all that is necessary to bring the perpetrators to justice.”

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission, founded in 1979, is Australia’s leading civil rights organization fighting racism through educational programs that combat bigotry, prejudice and all forms of hatred.
