B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission condemns UNESCO for another vote erasing Jewish history to Jerusalem and its holy sites

October  26, 2016

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC), Australia’s leading organisation fighting anti-Semitism and hatred in all its forms, has denounced the vote by the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO of an anti-Semitic resolution entitled, “Old City of Jerusalem and its Walls,” which refers  to the Temple Mount/Holy Sanctuary solely by its Arabic names, “Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif,” and describes it exclusively as a “Muslim holy site of worship.”  The anti-Israel resolution , approved by ten countries, with eight opposed and two committee members abstaining, also includes a number of false allegation against Israel.

ADC Chairman, Dr Dvir Abramovich, issued the following statement:

“Once again, we have witnessed a vile and pernicious whitewashing of Jewish history, identity and tradition by UNESCO, which is determined to engage in blatant historical revisionism of indisputable and  irrefutable facts. By waging this shameful cultural war on Judaism and the Jewish people on behalf of the Palestinian Authority, and by denying  that The Temple Mount has always been the most sacred site for Jews, UNESCO has lost the very little legitimacy, integrity and credibility that it had and has allowed itself to be manipulated for dangerous political purposes that can only harm the prospects of peace and reconciliation.”

The Anti-Defamation Commission, founded in 1979, is Australia’s leading civil rights organization fighting racism through educational programs that combat bigotry, prejudice and all forms of hatred.
