The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC), has strongly condemned the defacement of a Keilor gnome village with Nazi swastikas.

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“We decry this disturbing act of bigotry which is an attack on the decency of all Victorians. The Nazi swastika is a universal symbol of hate that carries painful and intimidating connotations, and is meant to instil fear not just within the Jewish community but within many minority groups. This is a sad and distressing reminder of the lengths people will go to express their prejudice and that Melbourne is not immune to this kind of threatening racism. We call on community leaders and residents across the state to come together to make their voices heard and to express their outrage at these acts of intolerance. We are confident that Victoria police will identify those responsible for this senseless act, and that they will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
