The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC) has strongly condemned a Facebook post by Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah faction which features the cover of a 1936 Nazi children’s book.  The book, Trust No Fox on his Green Heath and No Jew on his Oath, was the first anti-Semitic children’s book published by Stürmer Publishing and was used in many German schools to imbue students with hate and disgust for Jews.

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“As the spate of murderous attacks against Israelis proliferates, we are all acutely aware of the horrific consequences brought about by this frightening and persistent incitement. This revolting post is simply another example of the weapon of choice frequently employed by the Palestinian Authority in the so called ‘Social Media Intifada’ to fuel the flames of anti-Semitic and anti-Israel sentiments. Using Nazi images and demonic images of Jews on Facebook is abhorrent and dangerous, and once again sends a message of hate directed at Israelis and Jews. These types of anti- Jewish myths and stereotypes that are pervading Palestinian social media are fomenting an environment in which terrorism breeds and flourishes. It is the duty of the international community, which provides the Palestinian Authority with financial aid, to hold President Abbas accountable for his incendiary statements and for creating a poisonous atmosphere that has cost lives and which is incompatible with peace and reconciliation.  As Israel and other nations battle the phenomenon of worldwide extremism, there must be a redoubling of vigilance in confronting the purveyors of such charged rhetoric who are inspiring and encouraging violent action against Israel.”
