B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission and B’nai B’rith Victoria mourn the death of Masha Zeleznikow OAM

Today, Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC), and Faye Dubrowin, President of B’nai B’rith Victoria issued the following statement on the passing of Masha Zeleznikow:

“It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of distinguished community stalwart Masha Zeleznikow, a remarkable and highly revered voice and leader. Masha will be affectionately remembered for her enthusiasm, generosity and intelligence, and as an activist who made a tremendous contribution to our community. We extend our heartfelt condolences and sympathies to her family, and are honoured that Masha was a long-standing member of B’nai B’rith Victoria, serving with distinction as President. Masha turned ideas into action with remarkable speed, as was the case with the Raoul Wallenberg Yad Vashem Victorian Teachers Seminar, born out the Gandel project for Australian Educators, which together with her husband she grew into a transformative educational project that has created a lasting legacy. It’s a sorrowful day for those who were lucky to know her. May her memory be a blessing to us all. ”

The Anti-Defamation Commission, founded in 1979, is Australia’s leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through educational programs that combat bigotry, prejudice and all forms of hatred.
