B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission: anti-Semitic conspiracy theories by Iranian President at the U.N highly disturbing

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC), Australia’s leading civil and human rights organisation fighting anti-Semitism and hatred in all its forms, has denounced the speech delivered by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani at the 71st session of the U.N General Assembly in which he accused Zionist pressure groups of “causing the US to violate the nuclear deal.” Singling out Israel for censure, Rouhani also said that, “The oppressed Palestinians are still afflicted by a web of apartheid policies and atrocities set by the usurping Zionist regime.”

Dr. Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“Once again, we witness the spectacle of an Iranian president using the U.N platform to peddle reprehensible anti-Semitic conspiracies, claiming, very much in the vein of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, Zionist control of congress. Those hoping for a measure of restraint and moderation in the level of inflammatory anti-Israel rhetoric espoused by Iran will be sorely disappointed, as President Rouhani is determined to promote hatred against Israel and the Jewish people. We urge the international community, including the Australian government, to unequivocally condemn this noxious and dangerous discourse and to make it clear that such incitement and defamation must cease.”

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission, founded in 1979, is Australia’s leading organization fighting racism through educational programs that combat bigotry, prejudice and all forms of hatred.
