Anti-Defamation Commission applauds PM Morrison for his powerful condemnation of antisemitism

The Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC), Australia’s leading civil rights organisation, has applauded Prime Minister Scott Morrison for his powerful stance in condemning antisemitism. The PM said , “Anti-Semitism has no place in this country… It’s sickening. And so, we have no truck with these anti-Semitic thoughts or practices or what they’re about.” Pm Morrison also denounced  the surge in swastika vandalism across the nation, which he described as “absolutely sickening and disgraceful”.

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“We welcome the forceful and passionate condemnation of this ancient hatred by PM Morrison, and applaud his personal commitment to counter a resurgent anti-Semitism wherever and whenever it surfaces.  At a time of rising incidents of anti-Jewish bigotry and swastika vandalism across our nation, it is reassuring and deeply appreciated that the holder of the highest office in the land has used the power and prestige of their position to denounce this scourge. Above all, PM Morrison has sent the important message that he and his government will not remain silent as Jewish communities come under threat. While there are issues that we disagree on,  we are a country that stands united in condemning intolerance and evil in all their ugly forms. Now is the time to fight this stain on our society which challenges the core Australian values of tolerance, pluralism, and democracy, and we are ready join forces with all parliamentarians to counter this escalating crisis.”
