ADC welcomes President Trump’s condemnation of anti-Semitism in address to joint session of Congress

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC), Australia’s leading organisation fighting hatred in all its forms, has welcomed President Trump’s denunciation of anti-Semitism during his address to a joint session of Congress. At the start of his speech, Trump stated, “Recent threats targeting Jewish community centers and vandalism of Jewish cemeteries, as well as last week’s shooting in Kansas City, remind us that while we may be a nation divided on policies, we are a country that stands united in condemning hate and evil in all of its very ugly forms.”

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“This was an important and meaningful declaration by President Trump. We thank him for calling attention to this pressing issue and for unequivocally denouncing the scourge of anti-Semitism. In re-affirming the country’s support for the American Jewish community, we hope that the administration adopts concrete and effective measures to fight this cancer that is spreading throughout the USA and the world. We concur with the call for the appointment of a special coordinator to deal with of domestic anti-Semitism, and hope that other leaders follow President Trump’s lead and speak out against hatred and intolerance.”

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission, founded in 1979, is Australia’s leading organization fighting racism through educational programs that combat bigotry, prejudice and all forms of hatred.
