ADC shocked and saddened by terrorist attack in Sweden

The ADC has condemned in the strongest possible terms the terrorist attack in Stockholm left four dead and 15 injured. The suspect, a 39-year-old Uzbekistan-born man who has now been detained, drove a hijacked lorry into a crowded shopping street in Stockholm, targeting young children.

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“Once again, the people of Europe have been subjected to a cowardly and heinous terrorist attack that has claimed the lives of innocent civilians. The reported targeting of children by the suspect warrants special condemnations. The ADC expresses its profound sadness, and conveys its deepest sympathy to the bereaved families and wishes the wounded a quick and full recovery. Such reprehensible assaults are a direct threat to the western-liberal values of religious tolerance, pluralism and democracy, which stand in sharp contrast to the monstrous, violent ideology of Islamic extremism. As before, this is a painful reminder that the world has to stand strong and defeat those who seek to destroy our freedoms with their hateful, evil worldview.”
