ADC shocked and gravely concerned about Neo-Nazis in Daylesford

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC), Australia’s leading civil rights organisation fighting hatred in all its forms, has expressed its deep concern about the appearance of White Supremacists in Daylesford wearing Neo-Nazi clothing during the Chill-Out LGBTIQ festival in Daylseford. The two individuals were seen wearing shirts with ‘Sieg Heil’, ‘Faggots’ and the Nazi swastika.

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“We find it absolutely outrageous and shocking that these two White-Supremacists, with hate in their hearts, were openly and brazenly displaying these virulently racist insignia, intimidating and victimising the LGBTI community and residents in the area. Wearing these shirts is an insult to the millions of innocent victims, including gays and lesbians, who were murdered by the Nazis, and an affront to those diggers who fought bravely to defeat Hitler’s regime. Clearly, White supremacists are becoming more visible and active in promoting their bigoted ideology, and this alarming escalation will leave many fearful for their safety. The ADC stands firmly with the LGBTQI and Daylesford community in sending a clear message that extremism and intolerance, which represent a serious threat to the fabric of our cohesive, respectfullife, do not reflect the true character of our country and have no place in our community. We call on leaders to swiftly decry such hateful conduct and to declare in one voice that this such a vile and racist agenda will never find a safe haven in our midst. It takes all Australians working together to eradicate such prejudice and discrimination”.”

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission, founded in 1979, is Australia’s leading organization fighting racism through educational programs that combat bigotry, prejudice and all forms of hatred.
