ADC shocked and dismayed by a man wearing a Nazi swastika-emblazoned armband with his Port Adelaide Guernsey

The ADC has issued a strong condemnation against a Port Adelaide fan who has been seen in Melbourne wearing a Nazi swastika-emblazoned armband with his Power guernsey. Photos of the individual have been posted on social media.

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“We denounce vigorously this repulsive and repugnant display of intolerance by this individual who has hate in his heart. This blatant act of bigotry is an attack on the decency of all Australians and reminds us that the virus White-supremacy still remains a problem in our community. The Nazi swastika is a universal symbol of murderous prejudice and pure evil, and is meant to intimidate and instil fear within religious, ethnic and cultural groups. The Port Adelaide Football Club and the AFL must send the message that that there is no place in the AFL for racism and discrimination, and that there will be a high price to be paid for such reprehensible behaviour which runs counter to the sport’s values of acceptance, inclusivity and respect.

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission, founded in 1979, is Australia’s leading organization fighting racism through educational programs that combat bigotry, prejudice and all forms of hatred.
