ADC extremely concerned about unprecedented campaign of anti-Semitism on Australian campuses by white-Supremacist groups

The ADC has expressed its deep concern about a nationally coordinated outreach campaign by white-supremacists to spread their message of hate and Holocaust denial on Australian campus. The surge of activity has seen the distribution of Holocaust denial flyers in Victoria, QLD, WA, NSW and Canberra, with the most recent occurring today at Macquarie University.

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“This year is different to others, with an increasing geographical spread of sophisticated Holocaust denial by these agents of hate. There is no doubt that neo-Nazis and white-supremacists are waging a forceful and well-coordinated national campaign of outreach, ratcheting up their intimidation of Jewish students on Australian universities. I can’t recall seeing anti-Semites so consciously focused on targeting students, and it is apparent that they are growing appreciably more agitated, angry and emboldened. It is particularly disturbing that they are using a variety of tactics, most noticeably distributing Holocaust denial flyers, and seeking to establish a physical presence on campuses so as to spread their bigoted message. These dangerous racists are pushing their online activities to the real world in a very open way by visiting universities, which may result in violence if a confrontation takes place. State and federal government have a key role to play in effectively countering and calling out this frightening escalation of explicit bigotry and protecting all students from this poisonous rhetoric.”
