The ADC leading organisation fighting anti-Semitism and hatred in all its forms, has expressed its shock and outrage at anti-Semitic abuse directed at a Jewish girl in Melbourne. The 16 year old, who is a student at a Jewish day school, was subjected a torrent of hateful vilification and shocking posts on the Facebook chat room ‘16+ Hangouts’ with approximately 150 members. One member discovered that the girl was Jewish. He then sent her a personal message “don’t come back filthy Jew’. Shortly after she asked for messages to stop, a number of people were added to the chat room. As a result, scores of vile and cruel posts were written by members who adopted the names, ‘Adolf Hitler’, Lil Hitler, Adolf Hitler the original slayer’.
The onslaught included statement such as:
“All aboard Jew express next stop Auschwitz gassing chambers, I hear there is a lovely shower aboard, Yeah and it’s in Auschwitz. Exterminate Exterminate, “Gas the Jews”, I hate Jews, So wanna go to a 7 star shower and go on a 7 star train ride? JEWS ONLY HAVE ASHES OF THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS AHAHAHHAHA, Jews don’t have rights, I’ll make u proud. I’ll fuck her in the gas chambers, OK AND I HOPE THE TWO JEW FUCKING DIE, Don’t speak about my leader like that you fucking Jew, GO DIE INNA PIT OF ASHES, Filthy Jew be gassed. Free tickets for the next 100 people, Hitler did nothing wrong, Well yeah he was just trying to keep the race nice and strong. Ja Ja Ja Ja Ja Ja Ja Ja JEW JEW, He knew that he was a Jew that’s why he left. Celebrate, Finally no Jews, Yay, Just letting you know more Germans would’ve died if Hitler wasn’t there. When the Jewish student asked one of the leaders of this vilification to stop, he responded, “ NO CAUSE IM ADOLF MUTHA FUKING HITLER
A separate group named ‘Auschwitz’ was established and shared multiple times. The members engaging in this behaviour live in Melbourne and Sydney. Though aware of this shameful conduct, the admin of the group did nothing to stop the abuse.
Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:
“I am shocked that these young people so enthusiastically conducted this digital anti-Semitic lynching. It is also deeply troubling that these members used the gassing of millions in Auschwitz and the Holocaust as a tool to maliciously demean, degrade and bully Jewish individuals. Who have thought that such shocking levels of racism exist in the hearts of young adults in Australia, who have no hesitation in using a public platform such as Facebook as an engine of hatred. The fight against this vicious explosion of bigotry and disturbing harassment is everyone’s problem, and goes far beyond the Jewish community. I am very concerned that these users openly and comfortably posted such anti-Semitic abuse, and that this ugly manifestation of pernicious intolerance will make an appearance in the off-line world. Clearly, this outburst is a wake call that we all have much work to ensure the hatred of Jews is not made socially and culturally acceptable, creating a foundation for real-world violence.”
