ADC deeply concerned by Tim Wakeling’s neo-Nazi views

The ADC, has expressed its deep concern at the neo-Nazi, white supremacist views expressed by Tim Wakeling, brother of Liberal MP Nick Wakeling. On his Facebook page, Tim Wakeling features as his profile picture Rudolf Hess, Hitler’s deputy, describes himself  as the “former head gas controller” at Auschwitz  andboasts that he went to the “school of Holocaust denial”. In one post, he warns everyone of a time when a nationalist regime will take over Australia

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“It is chilling that in today’s Australia, there are people with ugly and vicious hatred in their hearts, who openly express admiration for Hitler and wish that a similar evil regime be established here, who deny the Holocaust, and who joke about the gassing of millions of people. These disturbing posts are anti-Semitism, pure and simple, and remind us that sickening bigotry and intolerance are very much alive in our nation. Using the image of Rudolf Hess is an insult to the Jewish and non-Jewish victims that were brutally murdered, the survivors, and an affront to those diggers who sacrificed their lives in the battle to defeat the Third Reich.  White supremacists are feeling empowered and emboldened, and it is no surprise that there is an explosion of racist activity in Victoria and elsewhere, invading our schools, universities and public spaces, and justifiably causing many to feel fearful for their safety. In light of the flames of intolerance and violence that we saw on display in Charlottesville, now, more than ever, is the time for our elected officials to develop an action of plan to combat this troubling form of extremism ,and to send the loud and clear message that neo-Nazis, who represent a serious and growing threat to our way of life, have no place in our community. We stand ready to partner in this effort.”
