ADC condemns Interpol’s admission of “Palestine” as a member state

The ADC has denounced the decision by Interpol, the international police organization, to accept “Palestine” as a full member state. The vote of 75 to 24, with 34 abstentions, was taken at the organisation’s General Assembly.

Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

The diplomatic warfare by the Palestinian leadership against the Jewish state has just received further backing and endorsement by the international community, and this action will seriously harm the prospects for peace. For years, the Palestinians have been bypassing direct negotiations with Israel, seeking to obtain unwarranted international legitimacy, and this shameful decision by Interpol will only embolden its leadership to continue with its rejection of bilateral talks. For a police organisation to admit the Palestinian Authority, which is not an independent state, and is long responsible for promoting incitement against Israelis and Jews, and for glorifying violence, beggars belief and should be condemned. Indeed, there are now well founded concerns that the PA will abuse its new membership to malign Israel in the international arena by asking Interpol to issue baseless and inflammatory arrest warrants against Israeli citizens. “
