ADC condemns fatal Barcelona terrorist attack

The ADC  has expressed its profound horror and outrage at the terrorist attack in Barcelona that left 16 people dead and more than 100 injured, amongst them three Australians. A van mounted the Las Ramblas walkway and drove into pedestrians. Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack.

ADC Chairman, Dr Dvir Abramovich, issued the following statement:

“It is with profound sadness that we condemn in the strongest terms this heinous crime in Barcelona and are deeply saddened by this senseless act of barbarity. Once again, innocent men and woman have been targeted and murdered in Europe. Our hearts go out to the families of the victims and our prayers are with the wounded in the hope of their full recovery. This latest episode of depravity reminds us of the warped ideology of ISIS and that these terrorists have no bounds in their bloodlust. This is an attack on the western values of democracy, pluralism and tolerance, and  all nations must unite in the sustained battle against violent Islamic extremism so as  to ensure that this evil is defeated. It is our hope that the perpetrators and planners of this wanton assault are swiftly brought to justice. The ADC stands in solidarity with the people of Barcelona and Spain.”
