ADC condemns BDS vote by the Congress of the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions

The ADC, Australia’s leading organisation fighting anti-Semitism and hatred in all its forms, has denounced the vote by Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions to adopt a total boycott of the state of Israel. Norway’s Foreign Minister has noted that the government opposes the decision.

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“This shameful motion from the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions should be strongly denounced. The union has decided to promote a fervently vicious and one-sided resolution that unfairly lays of all the blame at the feet of Israel and which seeks to isolate and demonize the Jewish state through discriminatory tactics. This vote will not bring Israelis and Palestinians together, but will further foment division and discord. The anti-Semitic aim of the BDS is to delegitimize and ultimately destroy the Jewish state. Its focus on one and only one state— Israel—betrays the highly sinister intentions of the movement, which conveniently ignores human rights violations committed by the world’s worst abusers while raining fusillades on the Jewish state. The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions is promoting a one-sided, distorted view of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and in doing so, it is promoting hatred, endangering the security of the Middle East’s only democracy and harming the prospects of peace in the region.”
