ADC applauds the Australian government for voting against a blatantly anti-Israel World Health Organisation resolution

The ADC has applauded the Australian government for voting against an anti-Israel World Health Organization (WHO) resolution that targeted Israel for condemnation. Titled “Health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territory, including east Jerusalem, and in the occupied Syrian Golan”, the resolution, co-authored by Syria, was passed during the 70th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland. According to the media, WHO failed to publish a report that praised Israel for its cooperation with a WHO mission to the Golan heights.

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“we applaud the Australian government for standing up to the obsessive and hateful campaign against Israel and opposing this immoral resolution that singles out and scapegoats the only democracy in the region. For WHO to accuse Israel of violating Palestinians’ health rights, while ignoring the real monstrous abuses and atrocities committed by brutal dictatorships around the world beggars belief. This is the anti-Semitic double standard, delegitimization and demonization lynching that we have seen for far too long at the U.N. Though it murders its own people, bombs Syrian hospitals and uses gas on children, the Assad regime is shamefully given the platform to condemn Israel for its supposed mistreatment of Palestinians and Druze residents– who are in fact protected under Israeli jurisdiction. By laying all of the world’s health crises at the revolving door of Israel, who is treating victims escaping the Syrian atrocities, and ignoring the crimes of Hamas and Islamic Jihad, WHO has once again discredited itself and its mission.”
