B’nai B’rith International and the B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission have
applauded Australia and The U.S. for voting against a Palestinian resolution submitted to the United Nations Security Council that would have imposed an arbitrary deadline and terms for settling the Palestinian-Israeli issue.
Dr. Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission and Dan Mariaschin, Executive Vice President of B’nai B’rith International issued the following statement:
“We applaud Australia and the US for their commitment and courageous leadership in pushing back against these efforts and for advocating for a genuine and constructive path to peace. We have long opposed any attempt by the Palestinian Authority to deliver an ultimatum for Israeli compliance with its objectives. It’s a real shame that President Abbas continues to try circumvent direct negotiations with Israel. In typical PA fashion, this measure blatantly failed to ensure Israel’s security and identity as a Jewish state. Peace and reconciliation can only be achieved through meaningful, bilateral negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. The PA’s continued internationalization of the conflict with Israel has only made the situation worse. Those countries that genuinely seek a peaceful resolution of this conflict must impress upon the Palestinians to cease exporting and inflaming the conflict by joining new multinational bodies, beginning with the International Criminal Court, in an effort to deploy them as political weapons against Israel.”
