The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC) has expressed its horror and profound sorrow at the tragic murder of Curtis Chang, who was shot dead at point blank range by 15-year-old Farhad Khalil Mohammad Jabar outside police headquarters in Parramatta, Sydney.
Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:
“Today is a day of mourning for our country. This horrific crime will shock the conscience of all Australians everywhere. We are profoundly saddened by the terrible murder of Curtis Chang, and our prayers and sincere condolences go to his family. This senseless violence, and in the words of Prime Minister Turnbull an “act of terrorism”, is a reminder about the danger posed by young men and women who are radicalised by extremist literature, propaganda and hate speech and the evil acts they commit. This is a time for all Australians, regardless of their religious affiliation, to stand together not only to condemn this atrocity, but to provide collective comfort and solace by reaffirming our faith in our nation’s fundamental democratic values of mutual respect, civility, inclusiveness and multiculturalism.”
