B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission mourns the death of Justice Alan Goldberg AO

Today, Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chair of The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC), issued the following statement on the passing of Justice Alan Goldberg AO:

“Today, we suffered a deep loss with the passing of Justice Alan Goldberg, a towering figure who had a profound impact on Australian society. He served our nation with distinction, and the ADC always admired and respected his consequential dedication and commitment to civil liberties and to our justice system first as QC, then as a Judge on the Federal Court and later as mentor to young lawyers. Treasured by his colleagues, Justice Goldberg was also closely involved with the arts and with our community, and leaves behind a formidable legacy.  I was fortunate to serve on a board with Justice Goldberg and always enjoyed his fierce intellect, wit and humour. We extend our heartfelt condolences and sympathies to his family, friends and supporters.  May his memory be a blessing to us all. ”

The Anti-Defamation Commission, founded in 1979, is Australia’s leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through educational programs that combat bigotry, prejudice and all forms of hatred.
