B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission denounces attempt by the Palestinian authority to join the International Criminal Court

January 4, 2015

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission has vigorously condemned Palestinian Mahmud Abbas - from mondoweissAuthority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas’s application for membership of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in a concerted campaign to defame, malign and target Israel and Israelis with charges of war crimes.

Dr. Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission issued the following statement:

“I strongly denounce the irresponsible attempt by the Palestinian authority to  join the International Criminal Court (ICC) in order to defame, malign and target Israel through the ICC and through other international institutions. By now it’s clear that Abbas is unwilling to take the critical step of dealing directly with Israel in seeking a negotiated solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and achieving a two state outcome. By embracing such a  destabilising and inflammatory step, Abbas should know that he is not only further sabotaging the peace process with Israel and doing a disservice to his own people , but that  he is also placing Palestinian terrorism and incitement to genocide under the spotlight and that his administration and Hamas may face appropriate charges. We urge all states, including Australia, to condemn this  effort and to reconsider their funding to the PA.”
