B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission congratulates John and Pauline Gandel on being awarded the 2016 Premier’s Award for Community Harmony

October  23, 2016

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC), Australia’s leading organisation fighting anti-Semitism and hatred in all its forms, has congratulated long standing supporters of the ADC John Gandel AO and Pauline Gandel on being awarded the 2016 Premier’s Award for Community Harmony. The ADC-Gandel Oration and Click Against hate were specifically noted in the citation honouring the winners.

ADC Chairman, Dr Dvir Abramovich, issued the following statement:

“Those who know of the long-standing and remarkable contribution that John Gandel AO and Pauline Gandel have made to the Jewish and broader Australian community over many decades, and its far reaching consequences, are not surprised by this latest accolade. John and Pauline’s distinguished service, dedication and leadership have now received another mark of recognition that they so richly deserve.  It is with a great deal of honour that the ADC has had the good fortune to be blessed with the steadfast backing and support of these celebrated humanitarians and philanthropists, and has had the privilege of co-hosting the ADC-Gandel Oration, one of our community’s greatest public events. We extend our warmest congratulations to them both, and look forward to many years of partnership in which we work together to combat hatred and intolerance, and improve our world.”

The Anti-Defamation Commission, founded in 1979, is Australia’s leading civil rights organization fighting racism through educational programs that combat bigotry, prejudice and all forms of hatred.
