The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC) has condemned the defacing of the Church of the Dormition in Jerusalem. “Christians to Hell”, “Death to the heathen Christians the enemies of Israel” and other hateful graffiti were sprayed on the walls of the Benedictine Monastery.

ADC Chairman Dr Dvir Abramovich issued the following statement:

“We are outraged by this hateful and reprehensible attack by extremists who wish to undermine the cherished values of religious freedom and tolerance which are at the heart of Israeli society. As we have stated previously, such crimes violate the Jewish state’s long-standing respect for other faiths and commitment to protect all religious sites. We welcome the statement by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that, “this act of vandalism is worthy of all condemnation. There is no room for such acts. Israel is a place where there is freedom of religion, and the only place in the Middle East where the Christian population has grown” and trust that Israel’s law enforcement agencies will take every measure to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.”
