The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC) has condemned the horrific stabbings that left two Israelis dead and three wounded. Nehemia Lavi and Aharon Banita were murdered in Jerusalem’s Old City by a Palestinian terrorist. Banita’s wife and their two-year-old baby were also wounded. 12 hours later, a 15 year-old boy was stabbed at a gas station near the Old City.
Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:
“We mourn the death of Nehemia Lavi and Aharon Banita and extend our most sincere and deepest condolences to the families of the victims. We pray for the speedy and full recovery of the wounded, and our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Israel at this difficult time. These vicious acts and the wave of violence that has engulfed Jerusalem, mean that Israelis cannot live their normal lives without the constant fear and threat of terror. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s failure to condemn this reprehensible escalation is a telling sign about his role in the ongoing and dangerous anti-Jewish incitement and his support for those who are perpetrating these crimes. We implore the international community, which considers Abbas to be a credible partner in the peace negotiations with Israel, to pressure Abbas to denounce these abhorrent attacks and to take all necessary steps to stop the campaign of violence and terrorism.”
