The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC) has denounced the desecration of six catholic graves at the Beit Jimal monastery near Jerusalem. Dozens of wooden and concrete crosses of the tombs were also smashed. Two years ago, the monastery was sprayed with anti-Christian graffiti.

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“We condemn in the strongest possible terms this abominable attack which is an affront to all Christians and to all Jews. Our hearts go to church affected. We trust that the Israeli police will vigorously investigate this crime and bring to justice those extremists who perpetrated this depraved act. Freedom of religion is a fundamental value in Israeli society and we know that the government and people of Israel reject these repugnant violations of decency and harmony and are committed to countering religious intolerance whenever it occurs.”
