The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission has called on Amazon Australia to pull anti-Semitic and Holocaust denial books from its site. Titles such as “Did Six Million Really Die?“, ”The Six Million: Fact or Fiction”, “The Synagogue of Satan”: Updated, Expanded, And Uncensored”, “The Hoax of the Twentieth Century: The Case Against the Presumed Extermination of European Jewry”, “The Jew as Criminal”, “Jehovah: The First Nazi”, “The Myth of the Extermination of the Jews”, “The First Holocaust: Jewish Fund Raising Campaigns with Holocaust Claims During and After World War I”, “The International Jew: The World’s Most Foremost Problem”, “Auschwitz” The First Gassing. Rumor and Reality” and “Conspiracy of the Six-Pointed Star” are just a few of the many hate-filled texts for sale on Amazon Australia.
Dr. Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission issued the following statement:
“Amazon Australia, part of the world’s biggest online bookseller, should not be a hot-house and a cesspool of racism, xenophobia and bigotry, and should not act as a gateway for young people to enter a world of hatred. It is inexcusable for Amazon Australia to serve as a vehicle and a platform for bigots to disseminate and propagate their toxic and harmful invective. Literature that promotes and incites hatred against the Jewish people by demonizing and defaming them, that denies and trivializes the Holocaust, and which foments racial violence should not be normalized and mainstreamed. It’s revolting to think that Amazon Australia is profiting from its selling of this noxious material to a potential audience of billions. I am sure that Neo-Nazis, racists and radical groups, who cannot offer their nasty materials to traditional publishers, are delighted that this vile content, which glorifies Nazis and white supremacists, and which dehumanizes Jews, is available in hard copy and e book format for mass consumption. At a time of a dramatic rise in anti-Semitism, hate speech, and violence against Jews, to have such poisonous tracts, easily accessible for download, only helps to blow on the embers of prejudice and extremism. Also disturbing is that Amazon alerts readers to the fact that “Customers who bought this item also bought” and goes to list and cross-reference other anti-Jewish books such as “The Jews and Their Lies”, “The Synagogue of Satan”, and “The Talmud Unmasked: The Secret Rabbinical Teachings Concerning Christians”. The pages for these despicable writings contain bloodcurdling excerpts, summaries from the authors that praise the publications, as well as testimonials from readers who usually laud the lies and conspiracy theories that the books try to spread. Companies have a moral responsibility and should review and evaluate their practises and guidelines. We urge Amazon Australia to do the right thing, and to withdraw these titles from its virtual shelves immediately.”
