ADC urges UNESCO to reject Palestinian bid to deny Jewish ties to Hebron holy sites

The ADC has called on UNESCO to reject a motion by the Palestinian representatives, to be discussed at an upcoming meeting of the World Heritage Committee in Poland next month, to designate the Cave of the Patriarchs and the Old City in the West Bank town of Hebron as “Endangered World Heritage Sites

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“This relentless politicization and hijacking of UNESCO has to stop. This provocative and inflammatory resolution seeks to erase the millennia old links that the Jewish people have had with the Land of Israel. As we have seen over the last few years, UNESCO’s reputation has been significantly undermined because it has chosen to adopt offensive, biased resolutions on Jerusalem put forward by the Palestinians and other members states hostile to Israel that were replete with an array of lies and baseless charges. The Cave of the Patriarchs is sacred to the three monotheistic religions, is open to worshipers of all faiths, and is not in any danger. If UNESCO is to reclaim its credibility, the rejection of this distorted resolution, which seeks to degraded Israel’s ties and management of this site, is a good place to start.”
