The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC), has expressed its shock and outrage following the horrendous terrorist attacks on two Coptic churches in Egypt during Palm Sunday that killed 44 people and left more than a 100 injured. Isis has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:
“We denounce this latest act of barbarity against the Egyptian Coptic Christian community which is another reminder of the escalating violence and persecution targeting religious groups in the Middle-East. This cowardly and heinous assault on people conducting a service inside their house of prayer is part of a troubling upsurge of attacks, and demonstrates the urgent need for the Egyptian government to take effective and immediate measures to protect its religious and ethnic minorities, who are justifiably feeling vulnerable and are living in fear, and to ensure their safety. We send our condolences to the victims and their families, and pray for the wounded who we hope will find healing soon.”
The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission, founded in 1979, is Australia’s leading organization fighting racism through educational programs that combat bigotry, prejudice and all forms of hatred.
