ADC applauds US House of Representatives for rejecting UNSC 2334 resolution against Israel

The B’nai B’rith  Anti-Defamation Commission  (ADC), Australia’s leading organisation fighting anti-Semitism and hatred in all its forms, has applauded the US House of Representatives for passing a resolution that denounces UNSC 2334 and urges the US government to reject and veto any future anti-Israel resolutions at the UN Security Council. The HOR resolution states that, “a durable and sustainable peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians will come only through direct bilateral negotiations between the parties resulting in a Jewish, democratic state living side-by-side next to a demilitarized Palestinian state in peace and security.”

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“This vote conveys a very strong and timely message about the profound bipartisan support Israel, one of America’s most important and loyal allies, enjoys amongst members of congress from the Republican and Democratic parties. The ADC records its deep appreciation to the U.S. House of Representatives for voicing its unequivocal and vital backing for Israel during these tough times. It was crucial that American legislators say publicly and vigorously that the US administration’s abstention on the UNSC vote was damaging and unacceptable and that they re-affirmed that the only pathway to a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is through direct negotiations.”

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission, founded in 1979, is Australia’s leading civil rights organization fighting racism through educational programs that combat bigotry, prejudice and all forms of hatred.
