ADC applauds President Trump’s pledge on Yom Hashoah to fight anti-Semitism

The ADC, Australia’s leading organisation fighting anti-Semitism and hatred in all its forms, has applauded the speech delivered by President Trump on Yom Hashoah in which he pledged to fight anti-Semitism and reminded the world that everyone must, “remember and to bear witness.” Speaking at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, President Trump stated that, “We will confront anti-Semitism. We will stamp out prejudice. We will condemn hatred. We will bear witness and we will act”. Calling Holocaust denial a new form of anti-Semitism, President Trump declared, “Those who deny the Holocaust are accomplice to this horrible evil. We will never be silent in the face of evil again.”

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“We welcome this forceful and passionate speech, and applaud President Trump’s commitment to counter anti-Semitism and violence against the Jewish people wherever and whenever they surface. It is important that world leaders pledge, as President Trump did, that they will use the power and prestige of their position to actively stamp out this ancient hatred, and honour the memory of the six million Jews and millions of others brutally murdered at the hands of the Nazis. We are also pleased by the President’s promise to combat the various manifestations of prejudice and declaration of his strong support and friendship with Israel and the Jewish people.”

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission, founded in 1979, is Australia’s leading organization fighting racism through educational programs that combat bigotry, prejudice and all forms of hatred.
