Today, Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement in response to the U.S military strike on a Syrian airbase. The Trump administration ordered the launching of cruise missiles on the Shayrat airbase following a chemical weapons attack by the Syrian regime in Khan Shaykhun that killed dozens of people, including many children.
“This welcomed and strong measure sends a forceful message to the international community that when the world is faced with staggering inhumanity and slaughter, and such a tragic, ongoing catastrophe, in which more than 500,000 Syrians have been killed, empty words of sympathy and grief are not enough. As Jews, we are acutely aware of the imperative of ‘Never Again’ and of the command to never look away. This strike is another occasion to remind those brutal tyrants engaging in atrocities that some nations in the civilized world will not sit silently and will try to stop and hold them accountable for their evil deeds. It is hope that before long, President Assad is arrested and faces charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Today, is a timely reminder that the imperative of ‘Never Again’ must be endowed with real meaning and action.”
