B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission very concerned about a hidden nuclear side deal with Iran

The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC), Australia’s leading organisation fighting hatred in all its forms, has expressed its concern about the Iran deal signed last year between Iran and P5+1 following reports of  a side agreement to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). According to the “side agreement” Iran, beginning in 2027, can start the process of substituting its reduced stockpile of centrifuges with thousands more advanced models that will cut the amount of time needed to develop weapons-grade uranium to six months or less. Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif, has labelled his country’s plans to expand its uranium enrichment program a “matter of pride.” Moreover, earlier this month, the deputy chief of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, Hossein Salami stated that the country has 100,000 missiles aimed ready to fire at Israel, and warned that, “that “if the Zionists [sic] make a wrong move, all the occupied territories will come under attack from dedicated fighters and the territories will be liberated”.

Dr. Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“As we mark the one-year anniversary of the nuclear deal with Iran, this new report brings to light a host of new concerns about the ability and effectiveness of the JCPOA agreement to restrict Iran’s capacity to produce a nuclear bomb. One also has to wonder why this aspect was kept secret. To be sure, this dimension of the agreement will lead to greater instability in the region since it eases the restrictions on Iran’s nuclear development program, cutting the time Iran has purify its uranium to weapons grade with more efficient machines, and shortening the 15 year restrictions to just under 10 years which is not the time frame that was pledged by the P5+1. Let us also recall that the Iranian regime continues to bankroll Hamas and Hezbollah, is a staunch supporter of President Bashar al-Assad’s abhorrent actions in the Syrian civil war, that it has reiterated its threat to destroy Israel and that it has not renounced its hegemonistic goals in the Persian Gulf and the Middle East nor stopped its continued abuse of human rights. Iran’s credibility is illusory. The stakes are far too high to ignore Tehran’s history of deception, and the revelation about this secret document only reinforces the ADC’s warning that this agreement has placed Israel and other states in the region in grave danger.”

The Anti-Defamation Commission, founded in 1979, is Australia’s leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through educational programs that combat bigotry, prejudice and all forms of hatred.
