The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC) has expressed its horror and shock at the terrorist attack at the Gulshan-e-Iqbal family park in Lahore, Pakistan, that claimed the lives of 72 people, mostly women and children who were celebrating Easter, and injured hundreds. A Pakistani Taliban faction Jamaat-e-Ahrar, has claimed responsibility for the suicide attacks, and has stated that Christians were the intended target.

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“We condemn in the strongest terms this depraved and horrendous crime in Lahore and are deeply shocked. There can be nothing more outrageous and cowardly than the targeting and murder of children. We offer our sincerest condolences to the families of the victims and pray for the full and speedy recovery of the wounded. This latest episode of barbarism and outrage, following the atrocities in Brussels, reminds us once again that Islamic extremism targets people of all faiths. In order to defeat the scourge of global terrorism, nations must resolve to work together in the battle against this threat to our shared values and to international security and peace. It is our hope that the perpetrators of this brutal and wanton assault are swiftly brought to justice.”

The Anti-Defamation Commission, founded in 1979, is Australia’s leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through educational programs that combat bigotry, prejudice and all forms of hatred.
