Melbourne, Australia… The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC)  has cast strong doubt on the apology issued by James Howarth after his anti-Semitic twitter rant against Assistant Treasurer Josh Frydenberg. This follows the revelation of a March twitter post by Howarth in which he labels a fire that destroyed a model dinosaur at Clive Palmer’s Coolum Resort a “Jewish Stocktake”

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“It’s clear that James Howarth has a problem with Jews and that he likes to peddle grossly bigoted and vulgar stereotypes that are deeply infected with anti-Semitism.  These recent and earlier tweets have unmasked irrational phobias and hostility towards Jews and his so called ‘apology’ is insufficient and not satisfactory given his warped and prejudiced world view. We have to send out a clear message that racism will not be tolerated in this country and we call on Mr Howarth to meet with representatives from the Jewish community so he can understand the offence caused and the harmful effects of his comments.”

The Anti-Defamation Commission, founded in 1979, is Australia’s leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through educational programs that combat bigotry, prejudice and all forms of hatred.
