nazi memorabilia queenslandThe B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC) has expressed its strong concern about a seizure by QLD Police of Nazi memorabilia belonging to white supremacists and Neo-Nazi groups. Also discovered in the raid was a shrine decorated with Nazi flags of the Third Reich and the SS, Confederate flags, Nazi emblems painted on the floor as well as semi-automatic rifles, a telescopic baton and knuckledusters. According to QLD Police there has been an sharp increase in Nazi items discovered during raids across the state.

Dr. Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the ADC, issued the following statement:

“I am profoundly disturbed and troubled by this seizure. It’s a reminder that there are individuals and groups in our midst whose hateful and perverse ideology poses a threat to all Australians regardless of colour, creed and religion. Anti-Semitism and a loathing of minorities are at the core of the worldview of white supremacists and neo-Nazis, and this common danger must be addressed directly.  We call on political and communal leaders to stand up and work together to create strategies that effectively stamp out this violent current of racism. As recent tragedies in the USA have shown, we cannot ignore the menace and risk presented by such extremist gangs.”

The Anti-Defamation Commission, founded in 1979, is Australia’s leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through educational programs that combat bigotry, prejudice and all forms of hatred.
